Exceptional Food Photography - Tom Davenport, RD Images

How to take great food photos, hire a photographer, and the effects on emerging technology on the menu

Here is an overview of the on-air interview:

Taking Good Photos
Don’t try to put too much food on the plate
– Focus on the entree or hero item, it is ok of the rest of the plate is slightly out of focus
– Use natural light where possible
– Shoot from a natural 3/4 angle
– Hire a stylist whenever possible

Hiring A Photographer
– Check out groups on Linked In (search food photographers) for photographers in your area
– Ask to see examples of their work

Emerging Technologies
– iPads are replacing menus in some urban areas.
– These are very visual devices and photography become even more critical
